Project Overview
This Sahuarita family wanted a kid-friendly backyard that wouldn't require constant watering and mowing. Their existing yard was mostly bare desert dirt with scattered gravel—dusty in the wind and muddy after monsoons.
We designed a layout that combines 900 square feet of pet-friendly artificial turf with interlocking paver walkways connecting the back patio to the side gate and a small fire pit seating area. Decomposed granite borders frame the turf sections.
The result is a versatile backyard that serves as a play area, entertaining space, and pet-friendly zone—all without a single sprinkler head or lawn mower.
Before & After
Before: An underutilized backyard of compacted dirt and scattered river rock. During monsoon season, runoff created muddy channels across the yard. The family rarely used the space due to dust and the lack of any defined areas.
After: A thoughtfully zoned backyard with a central turf play area surrounded by paver paths, a cozy fire pit corner with seating, and clean DG borders. The space flows naturally from the covered patio to the back fence, encouraging daily outdoor use.
