Project Overview
A Marana homeowner with a newly installed pool needed a deck surface that could handle barefoot traffic in 110°F temperatures. The existing Kool Deck coating was peeling and had become dangerously slippery when wet.
We removed the failing coating, prepared a new mortar bed, and installed French pattern travertine pavers in an ivory/walnut blend. The tumbled finish provides natural slip resistance while the stone's thermal properties keep it significantly cooler than concrete alternatives.
The finished pool deck spans over 800 square feet, wrapping around three sides of the pool with integrated step-downs and a seamless transition to the adjacent paver patio area.

Before: A deteriorating Kool Deck surface with visible peeling, discoloration, and safety hazards. The coating had separated from the concrete substrate in multiple areas, creating trip hazards near the pool edge.
